Where Giving Grows
Advisor Partnerships
When your clients want to give back to the community they call home, the M&M Area Community Foundation is here to make that possible — thoughtfully, efficiently, and in a way that aligns with their broader financial and estate goals.
We regularly partner with attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, and wealth managers across the region to ensure charitable intentions are carried out with care and precision. Whether you are helping a client establish a named fund, incorporate a charitable bequest into an estate plan, or navigate a complex gift of assets, our team brings the local knowledge, administrative expertise, and personalized attention to make the process seamless for you and your client.
We view advisors as essential partners in our work — and we are committed to supporting you with the resources, information, and responsiveness you need to serve your clients well.

Why Advisors Choose to Partner With MMACF
Community foundations offer a unique set of advantages that make charitable giving simpler and more impactful for your clients — and easier for you to recommend with confidence. Here is what sets the M&M Area Community Foundation apart.
Local Expertise
We have deep roots in Marinette and Menominee Counties and an intimate understanding of the nonprofits, needs, and opportunities that exist in this community. When your clients give through MMACF, their generosity is guided by people who know this region well.
Personalized Service
We work directly alongside advisors and their clients to ensure every charitable plan is thoughtfully structured. Our team is accessible, responsive, and committed to making the process straightforward — from the first conversation through long-term fund stewardship.
Professional Administration
MMACF handles the administrative complexity of charitable fund management — including investment oversight, grantmaking, due diligence, and reporting — so you and your clients can focus on the goals, not the logistics.
Lasting Stewardship
Funds established through MMACF are permanent and professionally managed for the long term. Your clients can trust that their charitable intentions will be honored and their legacy preserved for generations to come — regardless of changes in circumstances, family situations, or advisors.
Charitable Giving Options for Your Clients
The M&M Area Community Foundation offers a range of fund structures to accommodate the diverse goals and circumstances of your clients. Whether they want to support a specific organization, a broad area of need, or build a lasting philanthropic legacy, there is an option that fits.
Below is a brief overview of the most common fund types. For a more detailed breakdown of each option and how they may benefit your clients, visit our Options for Your Clients page.
Designated Funds
Designated funds support one or more specific nonprofit organizations your client cares about. Contributions are invested and managed by MMACF, with distributions made to the named organization on a regular basis.
Best for: Clients with a clear organization or cause in mind who want to provide ongoing, professionally stewarded support.
Agency Endowment Funds
Established by nonprofit organizations themselves, agency funds allow nonprofits to build long-term financial reserves through the Foundation. Advisors working with nonprofit clients or board members may find these especially relevant.
Best for: Nonprofit organizations seeking to build permanent or reserve funding.
Scholarship Funds
Scholarship funds allow clients to support students in Marinette and Menominee Counties pursuing post-secondary education. Donors may establish criteria based on school, field of study, financial need, or other meaningful factors.
Best for: Clients who want to invest in educational opportunity and support local students.
Field of Interest Funds
Field of interest funds allow clients to direct their giving toward a broad area of community need — such as health, the arts, youth development, or the environment — without designating a specific organization. MMACF awards grants to programs that align with the fund's focus as community needs evolve.
Best for: Clients who want flexibility within a cause area and trust MMACF to identify the strongest opportunities.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds give clients an active role in their ongoing philanthropy. A client makes a gift to establish the fund, receives an immediate tax deduction, and then recommends grants to qualified organizations over time — keeping the family engaged in giving for years to come.
Best for: Clients who want an active, ongoing role in their charitable giving and the ability to involve family members.
Unrestricted / Community Impact Funds
Unrestricted gifts provide the greatest flexibility, allowing MMACF to direct resources where community need is greatest. These funds are ideal for clients who trust the Foundation's judgment and want to maximize broad community benefit.
Best for: Clients who want to support the community as a whole and respond to emerging and unmet needs.
Tax Benefits of Charitable Giving Through MMACF
Giving through the M&M Area Community Foundation can offer meaningful tax advantages for your clients, depending on the nature and timing of their gifts. Below is an overview of common tax considerations. We encourage advisors to consult current IRS guidelines and work with their clients on the specifics of each situation.
Disclaimer: MMACF does not provide tax or legal advice. The information below is intended as a general reference for professional advisors. Please encourage clients to consult with their tax and legal counsel regarding their specific circumstances.
Cash
Cash contributions to MMACF are generally deductible up to 60% of the donor's adjusted gross income (AGI) for federal income tax purposes. Unused deductions may be carried forward for up to five additional tax years.
Appreciated Securities
Gifts of long-term appreciated securities — such as stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares — allow donors to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation while receiving a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the asset at the time of the gift. This is often one of the most tax-efficient ways for clients to give.
IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
Clients age 70½ or older may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from their IRA to a qualifying charitable organization. QCDs can count toward required minimum distributions (RMDs) and are excluded from taxable income, up to the annual IRS limit. Note: QCDs cannot be made to donor advised funds.
Gift of Real Estate and Other Assets
MMACF may accept gifts of real estate, closely held business interests, and other non-cash assets on a case-by-case basis. These gifts can offer significant tax advantages depending on the asset type and holding period. Please contact our team to discuss a specific situation before recommending this option to a client.
Note: Please contact our team before recommending this option to a client. Early conversations help ensure the property meets our gift acceptance criteria and that the transaction is structured appropriately.
Estate and Legacy Gifts
Charitable bequests and other planned gifts — including beneficiary designations, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable lead trusts — may reduce the taxable value of a client's estate. These gifts allow clients to reflect their values through their estate plan while potentially benefiting heirs through reduced estate tax exposure.
