Second grade students in Crivitz recently took a field trip to Nicolet National Bank for a “deposit day” as part of the Future Fund program established by the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF).

Starting with the 2019 – 2020 school year, kindergarten students across Marinette and Menominee Counties had a $50 deposit-only savings account established by the M&M Area Community Foundation at local financial institutions.  The Future Fund provides an opportunity for every child to feel valued, learn about financial literacy, and imagine what tomorrow will bring when the time comes to consider their future beyond high school.  Future Fund accounts grow by additional deposits from the Community Foundation during the students’ K-12 school career.  Research shows that children with dedicated savings are three times more likely to attend college and four times more likely to graduate with a postsecondary degree.

“When we launched our Future Fund children’s savings account program we were just the 66th  program in the entire country!  That is a clear indication of the Foundation’s Board of Directors’ strong belief in our two-county service area and our desire to provide leadership,” explains MMACF Board President Jackie Kamps.

“I’ve long been a believer of people but even I am overwhelmed by the enthusiastic support that this idea has generated and the generosity of those who have been accepting of our goal to build a $1,000,000 endowment.  We are well on our way and I know we will reach that goal,” said MMACF Executive Director Paula Gruszynski.

For more information on how to give back to our communities via the Future Fund, please contact Paula Gruszynski at 906-864-3599.  Checks for this Fund may be mailed to the MMACF at 1110 10th Avenue, Suite L-1, Menominee, MI 49858.
