Community Foundation Week

November 12th – 18th, the M&M Area Community Foundation will join community foundations across the nation in celebrating Community Foundation Week. Created by Presidential decree in 1989, the designation recognizes the importance of community foundations and their partnerships with public, private and nonprofit sectors as they collaborate to expand capacity and build community. Queen Marinette Award & Women's Giving Circle Grants

Hannah Bell, coach of the Menominee Girls Softball team and an employee of Aurora Health Care, was presented with the fifth annual Queen Marinette Award at an award ceremony Sept. 20 at UW-Green Bay, Marinette campus.  The honor is bestowed by the Women’s Giving Circle of Marinette & Menominee Counties, a committee of the M&M Area Community Foundation. Standing Legacy Society

The M&M Area Community Foundation’s Standing Legacy Society honors individuals or families who have committed to supporting the community through a gift from their estate.  The Foundation will recognize October as Standing Legacy Society month. More

Clean Energy Training

Names Needed for The Wall That Heals

The founders of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. are gathering names of those who have died due to Vietnam related conditions as a part of their “In Memory” program.  One of the ongoing tragedies of the Vietnam War is the illness and death our veterans face from their service in the War.  The after-effects of the use of chemicals, such as Agent Orange, are taking the lives of Vietnam veterans.  More

Annual Meeting

The M&M Area Community Foundation will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, August 16th at the Harbors Retirement Community, 1110 10th Avenue, Menominee.  The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.  More

MMACF Offers Free Communications Training

The M&M Area Community Foundation will host a training entitled “Bringing your Story to Life” on Wednesday, August 8th.  The webinar will run from noon – 2 pm in Marinette.  Local non-profit leaders and volunteers who promote their organization in an effort to engage others are invited to attend.  More

Looking for Hometown Heroes

The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington D.C., will be on display at Crivitz Community Veterans Park from August 30th through September 2nd.   The Wall lists over 58,000 names of those killed and over 1,500 service members who are unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.  Included are the names are over 100 service members from our area who were killed during that war.  More

Community Foundation Hosts Recognition Night

The M&M Area Community Foundation awarded grants at their annual Grant Presentation and Scholarship Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, June 7th.   Organizations throughout Marinette and Menominee counties received grants for 39 programs and projects.  The money from the Spring Grant Cycle is provided by the following grant-making funds:  Peshtigo Area Foundation, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Community Wide, Youth Field of Interest, Community Health Care Fund, Twin Counties Emergency Service Providers and Homelessness Prevention Services.  More

Community Foundation Receives Clean Energy Grant

M&M Area Community Foundation Supports Crivitz Playground

The Crivitz Playground Committee has joined with the Crivitz Area Partnership, a committee established at the M&M Area Community Foundation, to raise money for a new playground structure and upgrades to the surrounding area.  Members of the Crivitz Playground Committee include:  Rachel Zietlow, Jeff Walsh, Tom White, Ocean Sikowski, Megan Sullivan, Lynelle Caine and Jenny Gehm.  More

Community Foundation Partners with Stephenson Area Public Schools

A Safety Around Water program grant for all students in fourth grade has been awarded to Stephenson Area Public Schools.  Partnering with the M&M Area Community Foundation, The Stephenson School District accessed resources received from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.  More

Community Foundation Provides Grant for The Wall That Heals

The M&M Area Community Foundation’s Impact Fund has awarded the Village of Crivitz $4,000 to support the hosting of “The Wall That Heals” a mobile exhibit of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a companion Education Center.  “The Wall That Heals” honors the more than three million Americans who served in the Armed Forces during Vietnam War. The Wall bears the names of the more than 58,000 U.S. men and women who lost their lives in Vietnam.  More

M&M Area Community Foundation Designates April Sponsorship Month

The M&M Area Community Foundation has designated April as Sponsorship Month.

“We set aside April to recognize and thank the donors and volunteers who give of their time and resources to ensure the Foundation meets its mission of service to our community,” said Paula Gruszynski, MMACF Executive Director.  “I am reminded every day that the success of this organization is linked to the generosity of our community.  Private donors, volunteers, business and industry, all enable us to be an effective community foundation.  More

M&M Area Community Foundation Joins Great Lakes One Water Partnership

The M&M Area Community Foundation announced it has joined the Great Lakes One Water Partnership (GLOW), a new endeavor  designed to help communities around the Great Lakes region develop and implement projects and practices that will secure the region’s water future. The Great Lakes One Water Partnership is a multi-year, basin-wide initiative supported by the Great Lakes Protection Fund and the Council of Michigan Foundations. The project will focus on engaging shoreline community foundations as a catalyst for water infrastructure management benefiting people and businesses in the Great Lakes Basin.  More

Philanthropy Fund Grant Recipients

The M&M Area Community Foundation recently awarded grants to 11 organizations throughout Marinette and Menominee counties.  The funds were made available by generous contributions from community members to the Philanthropy Fund, which was established by the MMACF Board of Directors to support the needs of local non-profit organizations.  More

Plaza Ace Hardware Partners with M&M Area Community Foundation

The M&M Area Community Foundation has formed a partnership with Plaza Ace Hardware to give back to nonprofits throughout Marinette and Menominee Counties via the MMACF’s Philanthropy Fund.  The “Round Up” program allows Plaza Ace Hardware customers to round up on their purchase with the extra change being donated to the Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Fund.  More
